  The Tree Worship Series honors The Tree as an ancient symbol of life and knowledge and the poignant sentiments trees evoke. Most paintings in this series focus on a single tree in an untamed field. The solemness and singularity of a lone tree reflect the fundamental aloneness of every person. The meaning of the single tree deals with the experience of being alone. A consistent theme in my paintings is that nature reflects our most basic feelings, and makes them bearable by revealing them all around us. My paintings in this series show the sun exposing the solitary beauty of a single tree. In the Tree Worship Series, I aim to paint the mood of sunlight streaming through branches, the sense of being grounded by the stability of the trunk, the dark, unknowable places in the tree's center and roots, our secret histories hidden in the rings, and the quality of being alone.
