Mood and Landscape in Encaustic Wax
My paintings explore the amalgamations of mood and landscape; for me the two are interchangeable. When I paint, I rely purely on memory to convey the mystery of hidden feelings. Like emotions, my landscapes are organic, not structural. I use layer after layer of encaustic wax to push the extremes of texture and motion, resulting in surfaces that are smooth as glass or carved and sculptural. My subjects can be described in organic language: sinuous, flame-like, and visceral. |
